A first look at Orbit.

This is a developer source preview, not a production release. The download contains Orbit’s source, build scripts, license notices and setup documentation. It contains no accounts, credentials, paired-device settings or private test data.

What’s included

• A native Qt desktop interface with a 3D Earth and connection trails.
• Moonlight-based streaming integration, configurable profiles and stream statistics.
• Local stream controls and a browser-based account authorization implementation.
• Experimental Linux virtual-desktop integration.

Building the preview

Start with README.md in the archive. Native builds require Qt, a C++ toolchain and platform dependencies. The repository’s scripts retrieve pinned upstream projects separately. Linux testing has focused on Ubuntu with NVIDIA hardware; macOS testing has used Apple silicon. Compatibility with other configurations is not yet verified.

Not available yet

Standalone desktop installers, iOS and Android releases, public account registration, automatic internet connectivity, guest invitations and paid subscriptions are not included as ready-to-use features.

Open-source foundations

Orbit’s native streaming work builds on GPL-licensed Moonlight and Sunshine. See THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md and the licenses within the source. Attribution is part of the product, and remains visible in Orbit.
